Did a evaluation on system, apon arrival found freon caps missing off of unit and system empty on refrigerant, added nitrogen and trace amount of refrigerant to do leak search,didn't find leak on evaporator coil or line set,didn't find leak on condenser coil, found a very small leak on high side shrader core,unable to locate and other leaks on system, quoted repair cost to customer and customer stated they couldn't afford the repair cost, possible unit was tampered with
Upon arrival found system working and cooling, inspected inside and outside, replaced filter, found growth in indoor unit. Indoor unit cooling adequately. Blower motor secured correctly. Compressor and fan running within unit specification. Capacitor out of spec. Cleaned outdoor unit. Advised customer about bad capacitor. Customer refused service at this time.
Completed tune up and no cool. No cool wasdue to a dead dual run capacitor and bad contactor. Replaced both under warranty. Verified system operating correctly. Outdoor unit capacitor in tolerance. Fan and compressor pulling normal amps. Refrigerant level good Washed outdoor coil. No issues on indoor unit. Blower wheel clean. Drain clear. System running in cooling on departure
On arrival found new thermostat was set up as a straight cool instead of heat pump. Changed settings to proper equipment and verified system operating correctly
System is operating normally at this time.
Performed a cooling tune up. All components measured within specs and working properly. Refrigerant target superheat was 8, had 10 for a piston. Compressor and fan amping within range, capacitors were good. Drain line clear, filter changed prior to arrival. Unit running in cooling at 72
Homeowner has already installed new breaker and system seems to be operating satisfactory at this time. Also checked Freon and and connections inside air handler and heat pump. Capicitor is within range and drain is clear. Thermostat is holding temperature and refrigerant levels are perfect no concerns.
