When the scorching heat of summer hits Arlington, TX a well-functioning air conditioner can be your best friend. But what happens when your air conditioner decides to go on vacation during the hottest days of the year? That's where a residential air conditioning repair service company comes to the rescue!
The Importance of a Well-Functioning Air Conditioner
Your home should be a sanctuary where you can find comfort and relaxation. A properly working air conditioner ensures that your indoor environment remains cool and pleasant, even when the temperature soars outside. Aside from the obvious comfort factor, a well-functioning AC unit also helps improve indoor air quality, prevents heat-related illnesses, and protects your valuable furniture and electronics from heat damage. And when you need to replace your old heating and cooling system, we'll be there to walk you through the process with options that fit you budget.
Signs of a Failing Air Conditioning System
If you recognize these signs early, it can save you from a complete system breakdown.
- Unusual Noises - If your air conditioner suddenly starts making strange noises, like rattling, grinding, or squealing, it's a clear sign that something is amiss. Unusual sounds often indicate loose or worn-out components that need immediate attention.
- Weak Airflow - Is your AC blowing weak or barely cool air? Poor airflow might be caused by clogged air filters, ductwork issues, or a failing compressor.
- Frequent Cycling - Does your AC turn on and off frequently? This short cycling not only hinders your comfort but also increases energy consumption, leading to higher utility bills.
- Escalating Energy Bills - Speaking of utility bills, a sudden surge in energy costs without any other explanation could be attributed to an inefficient air conditioning system.
- Uneven Cooling- Are some rooms in your house significantly cooler than others? Inconsistent cooling indicates possible ductwork problems or imbalances in your AC system.
DIY Troubleshooting: When to Attempt and When to Avoid
Almost everyone is a self-proclaimed HVAC expert (we're kidding) and wants to be able to do things before calling a heating and cooling company.
There are some DIY things you can check that include:
- Cleaning or Replacing Air Filters
- Checking Thermostat Settings
- Clearing Condenser Unit Debris
- Addressing Clogged Drainage
Know when to seek professional help because anything else should and can be handled by the heating and air conditioning professionals you choose. Some of the perks of choosing a professional cooling repair company include experience, expertise, timely solutions, enhanced longevity of your HVAC system, and overall safety and assurance.

HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical Service FAQs
Saving money on heating and cooling costs in Arlington, TX, often involves a combination of energy-efficient practices and strategic home maintenance that include:
- Schedule annual HVAC maintenance for your heating and cooling systems.
- Install a programmable thermostat to automate temperature adjustments based on your schedule.
- Seal gaps and cracks in doors, windows, and around pipes to prevent warm or cool air from escaping.
- Ensure your home is adequately insulated, including walls, attic, and floors.
- Use ceiling fans to circulate air.
- Keep curtains and blinds closed during the hottest part of the day to block out sunlight and reduce the heat entering your home.
- Replace incandescent bulbs with energy-efficient LED or CFL bulbs.
Yes, HVAC systems can be powered by solar energy near Arltington, TX. Solar-powered HVAC systems utilize energy from the sun to generate electricity, which is then used to operate heating and cooling components. If you are looking to save money on their energy bills and reduce their environmental impact this would be a great option to consider.
The cost to replace a Central AC unit in Arlington, TX will be between $5,000 – $12,000 on average.
Here are some factors that can affect the cost of replacing an AC unit:
- Unit size and type: Larger units and higher-efficiency models (measured in SEER rating) generally cost more.
- Brand and warranty: Premium brands and longer warranties can increase the price.
- Labor costs: Rates vary by company and complexity of the installation.
- Ductwork and electrical work: If additional modifications are need, it will add to the overall cost.
- The size of your home: A larger home will require a larger AC unit, which will be more expensive.
- The type of system: Whether your looking to install a ductless mini split, gas or electric central air conditioning system will determine your overall cost.
To determine if your Arlington water heater needs to be repaired or replaced check the following signs include:
- Low water pressure: If you notice that your hot water pressure is lower than usual, it is a sign that your water heater may not be working properly. This can be caused by a variety of things, including a faulty thermostat, a clogged sediment trap, or a buildup of sediment in the tank.
- No hot water: If you don't have any hot water at all, it is a sign that your water heater has a serious problem. This could be caused by a number of things, including a blown fuse, a tripped circuit breaker, or a faulty water heater.
- Age: Water heaters typically last between 8 and 12 years. If your water heater is older than 10 years, it is likely time to start thinking about replacing it.
- Leaks: If you see any water leaking from your water heater, it is a sign that there is a problem. Leaks can be caused by a variety of things, including a faulty tank, a loose fitting, or a crack in the piping.
- Rusting: If you see rust on the outside of your water heater, it is a sign that the tank is corroding. This can lead to leaks and other problems.
- Strange noises: If you hear strange noises coming from your water heater, such as banging, hissing, or rumbling, it is a sign that there is a problem. These noises can be caused by a variety of things, including sediment buildup, a faulty heating element, or a cracked tank.
- Your water has an unusual smell.
Try some of these DIY methods to clear minor drain clogs in your Arlington area home:
- Boiling Water
- Baking Soda and Vinegar
- Plunger
- Salt and Hot Water
- Plumbing Snake or Wire Hanger
While chemical drain cleaners are an option, use them with caution, as they can be harsh on pipes and may pose safety risks.
No you should not try to perform electrical repairs yourself unless you have some type of formal electrical training and certification. Performing electrical repairs without proper knowledge and experience can be dangerous. It's best to hire a licensed local Arlington electrician for any electrical work to ensure safety and compliance with electrical codes.
If you have safety or increased power demands and your Arlington home was built more than 25 years ago, you should consider upgrading your electrical panel.
Here are some key signs to watch for:
- Outdated panels may lack modern safety features like circuit breakers that trip quickly to prevent overheating and fire risks. Newer panels offer enhanced safety mechanisms.
- If your house has aluminum wiring it can deteriorate and pose fire risks. Upgrading to a panel compatible with copper wiring.
- If circuits are constantly tripping due to overloaded appliances, it indicates insufficient capacity.
- Modern appliances like high-end refrigerators, electric vehicles, and hot tubs draw significantly more power. Your current panel might not be equipped to handle their combined load.
Even without immediate needs, upgrading to a panel with higher amperage (e.g., 200 amp) prepares your home for future electrical demands, like additional appliances or potential solar panel installations.

I was never happy buying a new unit from this company 10 year ago. It was overpriced and now I found out it is the wrong size for my house. I am not happy that I don’t get a real discount on parts even though I pay for the membership- service maintenance- whatever it’s called. $800 for a fan replacement is absolutely ridiculous. I have someone else coming out today and will probably cancel my service.

For this evaluation I showed up to the customer's home and she stated neither the indoor nor outdoor was running and the thermostat was blank. When I took off the faceplate of the thermostat the R wire was not connected and not giving power to the indoor or outdoor units so there was no call for cool. At the condenser I could hear the contactor buzzing loudly indicating the electromagnet is starting to fail and once that goes the compressor or fan will turn on. The homeowner has passed away so the neighbor and sister of the late homeowner or the ones looking after the home until it sells.

For this evaluation customers condenser was not running, there was no call at the contacter so I moved to the attic. At the air handler, the customers ex-husband attempted to make repairs to the air handler and has ruined the squirrel cage and blower assembly. A whole new re-wire of the air handler would need to be done to make the system work properly. Customer wants to replace however does not know when she'll be back from out of town and will call into the office to set up a time for a CA to come amd discuss replacement.

System down upon arrival. Power off system. Opened indoor unit and noticed the air filter was extremely dirty - replaced. Checked blower wheel pressure switch. Checked wet switch. System came back on with no issue. Checked components at the outdoor unit as well, no issues. I could not replicate the issue as the system hit its set point and turned back on when manipulating the tstat. Discrepancy- outdoor power is on a 40amp breaker and needs to be changed to manufacturers data of 45amp breaker. A dirty air filter can cause a gas furnace's pressure switch to trip and shut down the unit. The pressure switch detects negative pressure and remains open when the furnace is working properly. However, if airflow is restricted, the pressure switch detects an incorrect amount of negative pressure and closes the circuit, shutting down the furnace power. System functional.

1997 4t r22 goodman closet upflow electric. Blower motor bearings failing.(loud noise complaint). Blower capacitor failing. Heavy build up on blower motor. Heavy biological growth present. Evaporator coil rusted and leaks detected. A lot of indoor unit energy leaks and improper sealing around filter. Compressor exceeds manufacturers LRA on inrush Amp draw. Contactor has heavy scorching and pitting. Refrigerant levels low. I expressed to Homeowner that I listened to her call in and was trying my very best to respect her wishes on not wanting a new system. As I educated the Homeowner on the many issues with the 27+yo system, it was determined that the next best step is to have an appointment with a CA to see if we can get a more efficient system that's affordable, comfortable and has renewed warranties and guarantees. CA appointment 7/18/24 @12p CA to give a military veteran price please. Estimate is available to discuss with homeowner.

Filter base was covered in mastic and tape causing difficulty opening I cleared the obstructions and showed the home owner how to open and shut the filter base I also explained that the only way to truly remedy the situation is to replace his old filter base with a new one the if he has any issues moving forward the home owner will be liable for the service call
