Good Report & Recommendation for Surge Protection
janice - Hurst, TX 76053
Brian gave us a good report on the checkup of our unit and installed a new filter for us. He also recommended that since we recently had a power outage, it might behoove us to get a surge protector both inside and out. We opted to have the one outside due to the price of $200 each and he said it would show our good faith efforts to protect our unit from power surges in case we are in the approximately 5% who may experience one. He said he has one on his unit and that ours is a high quality unit so it help us make the decision to spend the money now to avoid what could be potentially much more if a power surge did damage the unit.

Checked unit inside and checked pvc pipes, found no corrosion and float switch was functional. The sequence of operations were in tact and closed out the system. Started to work on the unit outside and found the rating of the capacitor to be within range of the 10% by 1%, my advice is to replace it before summer time. My other recommendations are to add a surge protector for the unit and a compressor saver so that the unit pulls less amps at start and cuts the starting amps by 1/3.

Upon arrival found systems heating and cooling with a 20 delta. One system was at a 15 delta, the filter was dirty and the condenser coil was caked with dirt. cleaned condenser coil and delta went up to 20 and the system's efficiency greatly increased. Replaced a low charged capacitor on the 3 ton upstairs unit under P&L warranty and recommended a compressor saver. Customer approved installation of saver. Lra greatly decreased and efficiency of the unit increased. Recommended surge protection for the other unit and customer approved that as well. Poured 2 gal of water down the drains and there are no issues with the customer's drain lines. Drains are clear and both filters have been changed. Systems were left with no further issues

Craig B.

Did a HTU on 7 year old Amana system, checked capacitor, checked filter, flushed drain, recommended replacing uv bulb, and drain pain treatment, refrigerant levels are good, customer verified unit was working properly when leaving

Zak L.
Arrived for safety check
System functional and drain lines clear
Filter needs to be replaced
UV system recommended to neutralize bio growth in the system
Condenser unit
Capacitor in tolerance
refrigerant levels are fine
Compressor exceeding LRA
- rated 79 measuring 93

Cst will decide what to have done after speaking to his wife

Blake B.
Tech arrived for a HTU.
Upon inspection, the capacitor was within specs. The contactor was scorched and was audibly buzzing. The compressor was pulling high amperage on startup and sounded labored during operation. The disconnect is a pull type disconnect and is known to be problematic. There was no observed surge protection in the home. The filter was clean the blower area was a little dirty. The blower capacitor was out of tolerance. The heating system reached complete ignition. There is an area of the flue piping that may not be properly rated for the extreme temperature supplied by the furnace. The flame sensor was scorched. Due to the age, condition, and cost of repairs; it is recommended that the customer speak with a Comfort Advisor about upgrading to something more reliable with warranties behind it. Customer would also like information on generator options. Meeting is set for Thursday afternoon Jan 5th. Customer paid by check. System was functioning upon departure.
