I have been a customer of Select Comfort (aka Hobson's Heating and Air) for 40 years. The only problem I have ever had with them is that they don't sell and install Trane HVAC units.

Performed a STU on a 12yo 4 ton 13 SEER goodman HP. Manufacturer warranty ended 06/22. Filter needs replacement, customer did not have one for me. Drain line was blocked, cleared. Evaporator coil has a detectable leak. Blower components are functional. DeltaT is low. Secondary Heatstrips OHMed within tolerance. Outdoor unit was impacted with dirt, debris and leaves. Removed fan and side panels to properly remove airflow impacting debris. Fan motor has oil present on the underside of motor where shaft is. Volts and Amps measurements taken. Superheat levels were really high confirming the leak found in the evaporator coil. Discussed at length the options available, customer agrees to a CA visit on 9/29/23 @10am. While in the attic, customer has a malfunctioned attic vent that has a locked up motor, along with other electrical issues. I offered a service to Electrical. Electrical appointment set for 9/27/23.

Arrived to no cool. Not a capacitor issue as previously thought. Technician discovered a 06 code on the board indicating a locked rotor. Discussed options with customer and he decided that we should install a compressor saver first to see if it fixes the issue. Upon startup technician discovered that the system was not going into the second stage cooling but only staying in stage one. After tracing the wires the technician observed that the second stage was not connected to the thermostat. Connected y2 wire and second stage began.

Upon arrival to customers house system was on but condenser off During inspection discovered that the circuit board was throwing a locked rotor code and I verified that everything was working properly on the system before resync the two units System was cooling when leaving customers house

3 year old carrier gas furnace with straight cool condenser. The only thermostat is in the master bedroom and bedroom is about 4 degrees warmer than the main living area. Customer is curious about either zoning the system or adding an additional system to properly cool the home. Comfort advisor scheduled to come out Friday morning.
