Arrived for free second opinion Customer only needs downstairs system evaluated System is showing slightly low on refrigerant No water safeties present Customer already has better quote on refrigerant prices and wants to do the work himself

Tech arrived at a Free second opinion. It was late. Upstairs system. Upon arrival the resident mentioned that the coil may be leaking. The refrigerant was tested and found to be low. The TXV control valve was leaking. Refer to photos and videos. There was rust and corrosion on the coil but there was no observed leak detected on the coil at this time. A quote was given for TXV Replacement and fot Coil replacement under warranty. If the coil is replaced we also replace the TXV. If the customer wishes to replace the coil. We will need to verify warranty information. This is a rent house. The customer was not reached. The system was left in the off position and the outside disconnect was removed to avoid additional damages. The unit switch is in the Off position. This switch can be turned back on to circulate air. Call will be paused to verify second opinion, collect payment as needed. And receive signatures.

Arrived on site greeted cx. Cx said the system was not cooling but the unit was coming on. Cx showed me the invoice from competitor. Moved to outdoor unit hooked up my gauge negative 1 psi was read. System low pressure fault. Competitor diagnosed a leak in evaporator coil and low pressure fault. Advised cx no refrigerant was in the system so to even test for leak they would be charged either for refrigerant or leak detection. Offered to have a comfort advisor come out and speak with them about potential replacement opportunities. Cx politely declined.
