Horrible service. Comfort Experts (Hobson AC) sent out a technician, Kellen M. who told me that my capacitor, coils and compressor were going out and that I had multiple Freon leaks that were leaking into our house and could possible kill our family. He then set me up a meeting with a salesman to discuss my options on replacing the entire AC and heating system. Three other technicians came out and could not duplicate his findings. The last technician fixed my AC and it’s been working perfect ever since for $300.

Alex and his helper, Jonathan, arrived, on time and fully prepared to do a tough job in not the best of conditions. They cleaned up after themselves. They at least acted as if they didn’t mind me hovering about asking dumb questions. They were friendly and respectful. Overall, a very positive experience! Oh, and the upstairs portion of my house is now 74 degrees, not 94! Thank you!

2020 3.5t hp attic horizontal main system – comfortmaker. 2020 2.5t hp attic left side of home master and upstairs room – comfortmaker. Homeowners claim the units have not worked properly since install (builder grade). Diagnostic discovered on main unit – Subcool is below manufacturer specifications indicating low on charge. External static pressure test – If the TESP (Total External Static Pressure) in your air handler HVAC system is above the manufacturer's specifications, it signifies that there is excessive resistance to airflow within the system. This can lead to various problems, including: Undersized air returns: If the return air ducts are too small, they restrict the volume of air entering the system, leading to higher static pressure. Same goes with undersized supply ducting. Consequences of high TESP: Reduced airflow: High static pressure restricts airflow, leading to reduced heating and cooling capacity and uneven temperatures in the building. Increased energy consumption
2017 3t hp. System down upon arrival. Diagnostic discovered – Error code on defrost control board had 4 flashes which indicates Hard Lock Out (can only be cleared with power cycle). A malfunctioning TXV (thermostatic expansion valve) in a Trane heat pump can contribute to a hard lockout, especially if it's causing issues with refrigerant flow or pressure. A closed or malfunctioning TXV can restrict refrigerant flow, leading to low pressure in the system and triggering a low-pressure lockout. It can also cause overheating, which may lead to a high-pressure lockout. Once power cycled, I checked refrigerant charge, compressor, filter, blower components, and evaporator coil components. When system cleared it's code and turned on, I let it run for approximately 15min and checked my pressures and temperature. Whilst waiting – Filter needs replacement as it was heavily restricted. Biological growth present inside indoor unit. Blower capacitor is below manufacturer tolerance per data tag.
Upon arrival tech found that mini split was giving a E6 code indicating three options 1. Wires are lose 2. Fuze has been blow 3. System down upon arrival. Upon diagnostic I discovered the 3 phase contactor was compromised not allowing the compressor to turn on. Replaced contactor and verified function. Insulated vapor line and added service caps. System cooling upon departure. Left side of home is a 2019 4t diakin condenser with a 2024 lennox gas furnace closet upflow. Homeowner saw the benefits of having a home and budget protection plan and applied benefits to the part purchased to receive a lifetime warranty as long as a membership is active. Did not look at the system on the right side of home as I was focused on getting the left side unit up and running. System fully functional at this time.
Upon technicians arrival technician talk to homeowner technician found no corrosion on any of the wires all electrical connections are tie at this time technician did not find any biological growth in system technician move to the condenser where technician found that the system was having high inrush amps technician recommends compressor saver
2016 4t condenser. 2018 evaporator coil. 1999 electrical. No manufacturer warranty. Downflow closet. System down upon arrival. Upon diagnostic I found the liquid line filter dryer was leaking oil and refrigerant on both sides. Inrush amperage on compressor exceeds manufacturer tolerance. Vapor line is no the correct size. Condensate drain line is not plumbed properly. I performed a courtesy leak detection in the evaporator coil to make sure – no detection at this time. No filter in the system. Disconnect whip is too small. I presented all of my findings to the homeowner and went over in great detail the difference between repair and replacement. Homeowner declined replacement at this time and opted for the repairs. Pump down, liquid line filter dryer, pressure test, refrigerant recharge. System was able to stabilize its required superheat and reached over 14° DeltaT inside home. Homeowner agreed to the membership benefits. System cooling upon departure.
2014 carrier 5t hp attic horizontal. Expired manufacturer warranty. DeltaT 12° -80° ambient. Drain line clear – history of blockage at the master sink. Filter replaced – 5". Emergency pan – rust, history of emergency use. Evaporator coil – heavy biological growth present, rust and corrosion present with slight discoloration but not leaking refrigerant yet. Primary pan – heavy biological growth. Blower wheel – clean from a 2024 cleaning, but lots of the growth has returned inside the blower cabin. Electrical heat strips – heavy biological growth. Electrical cabin has heavy biological growth. External Static Pressure test exceeds manufacturer tolerance. Return plenum isnt aligned. Supply plenum and ducting system is leaking heavy amounts of energy into attic which is increasing the humidity and are comdesatig on the attic floor and on the outside of the air handler. Upon arrival technician found that the filter had not been changed for 3 years the house sat for 2 years after it was built homeowners did not know how to change filter out technician showed them technician got static pressures with old filter as well as the new filter and without a filter the old filter was at .6 the new filter was at .4 and without a filter .1 Technician checked all electrical connections everything is tight and has no corrosion at this time technician did not find any biological growth in the system system is clean technician did find that the energy hands on the outdoor compressor or higher than data tag expectations and recommendation technicians a compressor to lower the English amps to give the longest life to the compressor Technician also talked about home and budget protection plan with homeowner
For this job I reworked an estimate from a previous visit to replace a double clean out that has a broken fitting and roots growing through the fitting into the sewer line.
Completed room by room
Need to return to borrow morning to performed a complimentary leak search. Could not detect a leak with current leak detector and will need to borrow an additional leak detector. Two system cooling tune up performed today. Main unit is a Bosch heat pump installed in 2017. System is showing to be low on charge. Will need to return tomorrow morning to perfomed a leak search with a different leak detector. Bedroom unit is a 2 year old Amana heat pump with air handler. System is running normally at this time.
Customer was concerned withsome damage to the condenser pad caused by hail. Technician inspected the pad for structural integrity to find that the damage is only cosmetic. Performed a function check of the system. System is running and cooling the home upon departure. Highly suggest adding a while home surge protector to the main panel and a compressor saver. Both of these items will help with the reliability of the system and protect the electrical within the home.
Talked to home owner about issues with system. Unit needs to be level and re sealed plenums because of massive air leakage and pulling air from the attic on the return sides. Wants Job to be done on the 27th next Friday need a second hand to help level system. Found plenums not attached and unit un level. Condenser fan is pulling high amps contactor is burned up and capacitor is below manufacturer spec.
2014 3t gas package comfort maker. Installed 02/2016. System struggling to keep up. Refrigerant charge diagnostic discovered to be high super heat and low subcooling – outside of manufacturer tolerance and specifications. Upon pulling the evaporator coil door off, I removed a large amount of ducting insulation that as blocking proper airflow. Then I took a dry brush and cleaned the intake side which revealed many oil spots. I performed a courtesy leak detection with two different leaks detectors and found refrigerant molecules entering into the breathable air. Having a compromised evaporator coil also compromises the compressor as there is oil AND refrigerant inside the service lines. Compressor is noisynand oil stains can be found at the base of the compartment. I sat with homeowners and explained in detail my findings. I gave multiple options from repair to replacement. I reached out to a distributor and found that no evaporator coil is available in their system and if they decided
