HVAC, Plumbing & Electrician Service FAQs
The cost to replace an HVAC system varies based on factors like the size of the home, the type of system, and local labor rates. On average, a complete HVAC system replacement may range from $5,000 to $10,000 or more. High-efficiency systems and additional features can increase costs. It's advisable to obtain multiple quotes from reputable HVAC contractors, considering factors like energy efficiency and warranty, to make an informed decision based on your specific needs and budget.
Your furnace or air conditioner may not come on due to a broken thermostat, a tripped circuit breaker, a clogged air filter, or problems with the ignition system. Other possible causes include issues with the pilot light, bad wiring, or a damaged capacitor. Start by looking at the air filter, the circuit breaker, and the thermostat settings. In order to ensure that your heating or cooling system operates effectively, it is advised that you speak with an HVAC specialist if the problem continues. They can identify and solve the exact issue.
Insufficient heat from a furnace may result from a clogged air filter restricting airflow, a malfunctioning thermostat, or issues with the ignition system. Additionally, problems with the pilot light, a faulty thermocouple, or a malfunctioning blower motor could be causes. Inadequate insulation, leaky ducts, or issues with the gas supply may also contribute. Regular maintenance, such as changing filters and inspecting components, can help prevent these issues. If problems persist, consulting with an HVAC professional is advisable for a thorough diagnosis and effective resolution.

Found a leak in the bottom of the compressor last time I was here. Was not able to determine if any more leaks have appeared. Customer is interested in replacing the system. Tech Cody arrived to customer's home, Mr. Bullock showed me inside to the thermostat and indoor unit. Inside I replaced the filter, the coil and blower were clean. The UV light was functioning properly. Outdoors I washed the coil and waxed the unit. The compressor and fan motor were operating normally and a compressor saver was installed.
Primary drain was clogged and evap coil was full of water, cleared drain water drained system is operating efficiently
No problem found. Do not charge for this call
Upon arrival Customer showed Tuffeys invoice saying "leak in Evaporator coil" immediately leak searched Evaporator coil and found no signs of leak and leak detectors never sounded off. Leak searched Condenser coil and found zero leaks. Found that lineset in attic and insulation removed and multiple spot of kinks and cuts. Leak searched kinks and cuts found nothing. Checked Refrigerant levels and Refrigerant levels were within range at this time. System is running as should, left system in cool mode.
Plumbing inspection Recommend waterheater in closet get new shutnoff valve that is a 1/4 turn for maximum protection
Goodman heat pump with downflow air handler. Customer states that the coil keeps freezing up. Evaporator coil is very dirty and compacted which is preventing proper air flow. Blower wheel is very dirty. Blower capacitor is weak and needs to be changed. Compressor and condenser fan motor are amping properly. Dual run capacitor is weak and needs to be changed. Technician was not able to get accurate refrigerant readings due to poor air flow caused by the dirty evaporator coil. Customer refused repairs at this time.
P upon arrival compressor would not operate when I tried to turn the system on lights flickered like crazy. While inspecting the outdoor units I found that the electrical whip had no ground tied into the condenser. Installed new electrical width to and from with new ground. Attempted to start up compressor still no activation found a capacitor that had failed, swapped 70x7.5 MFD capacitor. System operated just fine after installing ground and capacitor recommended a compressor saver due to the really high amp draws from compressor. Compressor could potentially fail explain this to customer and they understood. Installed compressor saver While inspecting the air handler I found that the return plenum has collapsed on itself due to not being strapped properly. Air filter will not go in the system all the way until plenum is fixed. Need to perform mastic and seal on air handler and plenum along with strapping up correctly. Drain line is clogged has lots of buildup and evaporator drain pan
Primary electrical control failure, replaced System operating efficiently
Super tune up performed today on a Goodman gas furnace with a straight cool condenser installed in 2010. All electrical connections are tight with no corrosion. Ecm blower motor is acceptable. System is clean. Inducer motor, gas pressure, igniter and heat exchanger are all acceptable. Compressor is amping a bit high upon start up but all running amp draws are in range. System is a bit low on refrigerant. Supply plenum fell and left air gaps in the attic. This technician lifted the plenum up and put a support strap underneath it, then taped up all the gaps. Delta T improved by about 4.5 degrees after doing that. Highly suggest adding a compressor saver to help with the efficiency and the reliability of the unit.
Opening up the main panel I found that they didn't have a surge protector I have talked to them about this I also tested the connections voltages were fine they were very tight plugs inside were all wired correctly they had GFCIs
System is working fine, heat pump is producing water onto concrete slab, explained to Cust this is going to happen Next step is going to relocate the condenser
Run new main wire to home Replaced wire feed from disconnect to breaker box with 4/0 — 2/0 neutral and 1/0 ground. Everything is working as it should at this time. 240 volts to breaker box with 120 volts from each lug to ground.
One line coming from main is compromised and is not passing power. New lines need to be ran to the house. Job is scheduled for tomorrow. Customer has been approved for financing.
