Arrived to no cool. Found that the system was going out on high pressure to due a variable speed condenser fan motor failure. Compressor and indoor blower coming on but system is not able to reject heat due to the failed condenser fan motor. Indoor unit has very heavy biological growth and needs to be cleaned. Gave customer estimate for all known repairs at this time. Comfort advisor is scheduled to meet with this customer this afternoon.
Arrived to house maintaining 81 degrees. Customer states that cold air was coming from the vents. Checked and found that supply air was at 95.5 degrees. I explained to the customer that a heat pump is designed to maintain the home at a certain temperature and that even if the air coming from the vents feels a bit cool that it is heating the home. Customer put the system on emergency heat because he wanted to feel the warm air at the vents. Checked charge and defrost cycle. System operating normally at this time. Customer states that Donna would cover the service fee. Pausing until payment is processed.
Techs Cody and Tyler arrived to customer's home and met the homeowners. The system was not running when we arrived. We diagnosed a failed run capacitor and a failed compressor saver, we also conducteda complimentary leak search but found no leaks. We shared our findings with homeowner and the system was cooling when we left.
5/23/24 Tech Cody arrived to customer's home. The homeowner informed me that their breaker for the AC was tripping repeatedly, when I arrived the AC was cooling and the breaker was not tripping, I amp clamped the outdoor unit and the system was pulling 12 amps. Mark Watkins will come out later today to replace the breaker and double the system to make sure it is functioning properly. As I was about to leave the homeowner noticed that their other system was leaking water from the indoor unit. I found the clogged drain, cleared it out, then poured a gallon into the drain pan and put in a pan treatment bar inside the unit. When I left both systems were running and cooling. Watkins will install breaker this evening.
Tech Cody arrived to customer's home. The system was not running when I arrived, I reset the 50A breaker and the system turned on. The homeowner had an electrician come to test the breaker box and said the issue was with the AC unit. When I amp tested the unit it never got above 13.8 amps. The system was cooling and I found no other issues. According to my tests the system is operating as it should and within specifications According to the data tag. I set up an appointment for our electrician Tyler to come out next Tuesday to get a second opinion on the 50A breaker.
Informed that due to I could only perform indoor portion of CTU customer agreed that would be okay and to move forward instead of rescheduling. Tested all components all measured within ratings and specs. Changed filters. Recommend duct cleaning lvl1.
