Michael and Alonso came out to assess our AC which had stopped cooling in the upstairs for about a week and turns out the "return duct" had some damage of the metal ring that goes around to I guess keep it secure and hold its cylinder shape. It's impossible to know when or how it got damaged whether by the installers or the duct cleaners we had in earlier this year. Although they weren't able to fix the issue, they were able to identify the problem and get me scheduled for their Expert to come out the next day to fully assess. They were professional, seemed knowledgeable and quick to complete the assessment and get me on the schedule.
I've owned my house for about five years now, and have trusted Comfort Experts to do much of the repair and maintenance work on it, with outstanding results.
But nothing compared to the scope of my most recent project, a partial re-plumbing of all the fast-deteriorating (and close to breaking) galvanized pipe running throughout my 1920s house – most of which was creatively installed in bizarre ways, many years ago.
So of course, Comfort Experts was my first call.
And I'm incredibly glad it was, because as challenge after challenge was uncovered, the Comfort Expert team worked through and overcame each of them – from an oddly-placed waterline, to the excavation and installation of a new water main through a yard filled with rock and tree roots (shout-out to C&R Excavation!), to reaching barely-accessible areas of the crawl space under the house to replace difficult-to-reach pipes. Etc.
It was a true team effort, and the Comfort Experts technicians handled everything in stride with determination, patience and professionalism.
Tyler B. – only two weeks into his role at the time – was already insulating pipes, navigating the crawl space, and digging holes like he'd been on the job for months.
Zach answered the call when he was needed; squeezing into ridiculously small spaces to access areas otherwise impossible to reach.
Daniel was with me every step of the way, and I was less anxious about the entire project knowing that it was in his very capable hands. He confidently navigated each unforeseen issue – and there were many – while patiently answering my questions and constantly troubleshooting issues with the team.
And then there was Mark W., who was everywhere and seemingly capable of doing everything. He was in the attic running a new drain line for my HVAC. He was under the house installing new pipe. He was hopping into holes with a jackhammer to assist the excavation team. He had a tool for everything, and an answer to every question, and his high standards for excellence – for his own work and that of his team – also gave me great peace of mind.
What started out as a seemingly simple project ended up taking a full 3.5 days – but I am so grateful that Comfort Experts got it done, and was able to do it right. My 100-year old house will stay standing a little while longer thanks to them!
Zak came the same day and was very professional and informative about the issues we had with our AC unit. I took advantage of $49 mail flyer for a summer tune up. When the tech came out I was told my unit was dirty and that my capacitor was failing and needed to be replaced. I was also told my coolant was running and low and need to be recharged but assured there was no leak. The price for the capacitor replacement was $500 and the coolant was $3000. I was a bit shocked and taken back by this price and certainly could not afford it at the time. I ended up calling another local company that my step-dad has used for 20 years and recommended by his contractor friend. They quoted me $29 to change the capacitor if I bought one on Amazon for $17. How can Comfort Experts charge $500 for a $17 part? Needless to say I ended up using the other guys. I also inquired on my visit about installing a minisplit in a shed I have and removing the old one. The quoted price for install was $3,750. This really blew me away because the install price on the existing unit was only $900 and than included the electric work that needed to be done last time when it was new. But now that I’m replacing one that has already been done. I understand slight variations in price but this was outrageous. The quote for my coolant refill for 410A was that I needed 114 ounces at $27/ounce. That is $432/lb!!! Absolute insanity. I was able to get it from another company for $80/lb. My tech, Daniel, was fine. I have no complaints about him and he seems like a kind and honest fellow. He was polite the entire time. So zero complaints about him. But was definitely not impressed with the pricing. I do not feel like I got $49 worth of service. I felt like I was charged $49 to overcharge me for items and try to push a $20/month membership.

On this job I looked over the system. Its 2.5 condensor with 3 ton eap coil in the attic. The system has a leak in the evap coil. Rather then make repisrs he wants to talk about system replacement. Just cooling side Removing the service fee. I have other invoices I the notes.

Needs 200 square Feet Of insulation Warranty seal on supply Plenum for downstairs system
for this job, I did a super tuneup. Delta on both systems were good. Drain lines Tested clear, poured vinegar down the lines. Replaced filter on the downstairs unit. Suggesting April air upgrade to prevent bypass dust. At the outdoor unit, the capacitors were good. Running amps were good. In rush was a bit high, suggesting soft starts for both units. Noticed excess heat Leaking from upstairs attic. Suggesting attic tent. vapor line Missing some insulation. Homeowner had the tools to make that repair herself. Homeowner mentioned her bathroom and bedroom in the back of the house tend to get really hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Took thermals of the ceiling and noticed the insulation was low in both of those areas. Scheduled IAQ visit with Zak to get a more informed assessment. Washed out the coils, and the system was running and cooling when I left.

For this job I performed an evaluation. The systems compressor was grounded and kept tripping the breaker when receiving a cooling call. Holding for parts, need to order carrier compressor. Done for now, additional tech needed. Prepaid for the labor, compressor is within manufacture warranty.
Removing the service fee he should me invoice for other company. Today I did a drain repaired with his permission we ran the primary drain to secondary.
