Joe came out to check our mini split in our master bedroom. Intermittently would make a loud racket. He spent 20 minutes trying to replicate but couldn't. He listened to the recording I had made so he could hear what exactly it was doing. Compressor saver was replaced and system was completely restarted, heating and cooling we're both tested and we're working on point. Insulation is 6” or less on average, code is 14” and would provide large energy savings over time. Ducts are old and the insulation has come off, losing heated/cooled air to the attic. Outdoors refrigerant is good. Cap rated 70+5. Fan side currently at 3.8, recommend replacement before failure. Running amps are fine. Compressor rated 134 amps for startup and currently using 162.8. Highly recommend start kit to prolong life of compressor and reduce load on startup. Customer would like to schedule us to come back out to replace filter on Tuesday 2/10/26. for this job, I did an evaluation. When I arrived, the unit units were both running indoor and out. Took a Delta it was nearly 0. At the outdoor capacitor was fine and Compressor was running. Refrigerant levels were low. System has a piston and with superheat of 60+. did a leak search and found a leak in the coil. Adding refrigerant to system to keep homeowner comfortable until coil is ordered and replaced.

I have completed my electrical inspection, they have a federal Pacific panel, although everything in the panel is looking ok except for one of the main lugs which has quite a bit of corrosion I highly recommend replacing that panel as it is a very large risk of a fire mainly due to the breakers and general design but it seems at this time they aren't Interested
On arrival system was running and not cooling. Found a piston metering device inside with an older indoor unit and a 3 year old outdoor unit. Found compressor only pulling 7.8 amps in the direct sun at 97 degrees outside. Compressor rla is 16.7. Superheat was 0 with a low side saturated temp of 80 and a line temp of 80. Hot gas discharge temp was 99. System appears to have plenty of refriybut the compressor is mechanically failed. Recommended replacing full system so if something like this happens again it will have a full 10 yr warranty. Will follow up with customer on Wednesday to discuss sending a comfort advisor out.
Arrived onsite the water heater in garage was not working properly. Went ahead and replaced thermocouple for water heater fired right up after replacement everything working properly.
