Arrived at customers house for evaluation No heat upon arrival checked indoor unit for call call found Checked out door unit for call found call but units both out on high pressure Checked refrigerant at correct pressures off while running at 600psi pulled filters and closed panels 300 psi heat working refrigerant Informed customer to replace filters more often last replace 8 m9nths ago for a 20x25x1 filter Military membership
Service call by Mike R
During today's visit i came to the determination that the high pressure was tripping at 300 psi. This has been taking care of today and should no longer be an issue. I recommend an easy start for the compressor to help it live as long as it can.
For this heating tune-up I inspected the customer's air handler and evaporator coil. The system is in dire shape and needs a deep coil and blower clean as they are completely covered in dirt and hair that is affecting the efficiency of heat absorption in cooling mode. The heat strips are working well and heating the home, however with the age of the system I would not recommend cleaning the coil as it could damage it and cause a leak of refrigerant. I do not recommend moving forward with refurbishment, but rather system replacement. Customer may call in or have us back out when they are able to move forward with replacement or would like to get a quote to replace.
The high pressure cut out was turning the system off. Head pressure was 460 designed for 448. I recovered some of it to correct system charge.
For this evaluation the customer stated the unit had stopped heating a couple days ago. When I showed up the system was off and when I turned it on it started heating with 20⁰ of temperature rise. The heat strips would not kick on unless manually engaged even though the thermostat is wired correctly, however the thermostat that the customer's have is only a 1 heat one cool thermostat and they need a 2 Heat, 1 Cool thermostat (TH4210U). Additionally the condenser has what appears to be chew marks from mice on the wiring inside the condenser with exposed copper, that can cause fuses to pop from rub out. I used electrical tape to cover the exposed wiring as best I could.
For this heating tune-up I inspected the customer's furnace as well as the condenser. For the most part everything was measuring within manufacturer specs and running well. The inducer motor was pulling .03 amps over the FLA, so it would be good to keep an eye on it. The dual run capacitor on the condenser was out of tolerance reading 20.6 MFD out of 70 so that will need to be changed before cooling season as the compressor wouldn't even kick on. I recommend it to the customer adding a hard start kit to the condenser to help with compressor amp draws on startup, as well as a duct cleaning and UV system to kill and prevent biological growth in the plenums and circulating around the home. Customer stated he would talk to his wife about recommendations.
Arrived at customers house for super tuneup All components working to manufacture spec Recommended anti microbial and dispersed anti microbial through system
On this job I i stalled an easy start and made his high voltage at the contactor solid connections. The heat pump is back onlineline and ready for heating.
On this system I noticed it had a hard start. I talked to her about improving this with an easy start. Besides this the system test in tolerance for all components. The td in heat is 30°. System has a subcool of 9. The filter was not replaced today she has a clean one already in it. She would like to install an easy start at a later time.
Intermittent no heat on intertherm electric manufactured home air handler some times the unit will not put out proper heat out ran heat and checked heat strips 15 KW electric heat had 20 amps on all three heat strips through relays turned furnace off and back on multiple times to try and reproduce problem.
The outlets are wired correctly she has gfci's and the panel is in great condition, a surge protector is also present
Arrived for heating tune up Filter was clean and recently replaced Heating performance is good as well as heat strips Tightened connections and inspected voltage/amperage Compressor function is good for cooling and heating Reccomended blower clean Reccomended IAQ200 Reccomended soft start upgrade System left on 74 cool at exit
Gonna set up a phone call for the 6th to ask a good day to come do the work
Customer stated furnace was loud. Went through entire blower cabinet and furnace assembly and tightened all screws. Was able to make an adjustment that was acceptable for the customer. Furnace is still on the louder side, due to its age and the new blower and wheel producing a higher volume of air.
For this super tune-up I inspected the air handler and condenser, all equipment was measuring within manufacturer specs and running well
For this super tune-up I inspected both systems on the home. All equipment was measuring within manufacturer specs and running well. I recommend adding insulation in the attic as the current insulation is compressed. Additionally I recommend adding a whole home surge protector to the home to protect all the electronics to include the HVAC systems from power surges and damage caused by them. The customer stated they have lived in the home for 8 years and never received a duct cleaning so I recommend that as well to help with allergies and air quality in the home. Customer stated he wants to get a bigger electrical panel installed in the future as well
Going to perform a free electrical tuneup on Sat 21st
