Sleeping Comfortably
We may not be experts in sleep, but we are experts in comfort! And comfort is key to a good night’s sleep. That’s why we’re exploring how adjusting your home temperature will improve your sleep.
The right temperature is what makes your home comfortable, and part of that comes with experimentation. Plus, it’s different for everyone. Some people run cold, while others get overheated easily. Check out the tips below to see how getting your home to the right temperature will improve your zzzs.
The Ideal Temperature
No matter what time of year it is, you should aim to sleep in a cool room in order to maximize your comfort and rest. In fact, a recent study claimed that sleep environment is one of the most important factors contributing to positive sleep quality.
Now “cool,” again, is a relative term. Try setting the thermostat to about 65 degrees overnight. You can go a little lower, but try to stay in a range of 60 to 67 degrees. Just as being too warm can create issues, so can being too cold.
How to Stay Cool
Getting your thermostat to the right temperature each night is made easier with a smart thermostat. Instead of manually setting the thermostat, you can have a preset temperature scheduled each night when you go to bed. Plus, you can schedule the AC to back off or the heat to kick on (depending on the time of year) if you often wake up cold.
You can also set up a zoning system so you only need to adjust portions of your home, like a floor with all the bedrooms. This removes waste associated with dropping your whole home’s temperature every night.
